Augmented Body, Altered Mind at Áras Éanna, Inis Oirr, 27-28 September, 2024
Critically acclaimed artist AlanJames Burns with DCU, Galway Arts Office and Creative Ireland presents an exciting interactive art experience on Inis Oírr this September.
This September artist AlanJames Burns will be exhibiting immersive artwork ‘Augmented Body Altered Mind’ which will close the summer programme presented by Áras Éanna on Inis Oirr. Co-created by the public, this immersive artwork explores the intersections between variations in the human brain, cognition, individual agency and the climate crisis. This exhibition tour ignites the launch of the artist’s and DCU’s latest project, Divergently Together, which leverages STEM technologies to empower disabled and neurodivergent communities in climate action.
On Friday September 27th, the artist in association with Galway County Council and Creative Ireland will host a day of informal conversation, followed by a workshop designed to give attendees practical skillsets that can be implemented to foster increased community engagement in climate action.
We will bring together climate officers, policy makers, groups or individuals with environmental concern to converse, with those who may identify with neurodivergence or a disability who due to poor access standards may often be left out of conversations or climate action engagement.
