“Burns uses a video audio installation to investigate the human thought process. An experimental interview on three individual participants questions the subject’s method of thinking. In the attempt to discuss their thoughts our attention is drawn to the process of articulation, the path we must navigate in order to find our desired thoughts and communicate them successfully. The video audio material is manipulated to observe and visualise that vital space between thought and expression. Burn’s work offers an insightful map of the route between thought and word. As the subjects discuss the paths and patterns of consciousness, attention is focused on what can be hidden, revealed and recycled within us creating a parallel between the cognitive action and the elaborate structure of the forest.”
